For February we will look at the second yama... Satya
Satya means being truthful to others in both words and actions, not telling lies, and following a path that is true and honest. Satya has serveal parts that we should follow, as conveyed in the Manusmriti 4.138:
satyaṃ brūyāt priyaṃ brūyānna brūyāt satyamapriyam |
priyaṃ ca nānṛtaṃ brūyādeṣa dharmaḥ sanātanaḥ ||
Speak the truth that is sweet, do not speak a truth that is not sweet. Do not lie to please. This is the eternal dharma.
satyapratisthayam kriyaphalaashrayatvam YS 2.36
By being truthful, whatever action you take will be successful.
